Casual Worker rights
Posted by Andrea - 07:20 PM 15.10.12
I am currently working as a casual and applied for my position which was advertised as Full time. While on leave for an injury caused at work, they have changed the position to 2 Part time roles and given the 3 days to somebody else. Can they do this without readvertising or notifiying me?

Contract Enquiry
Posted by . - 01:07 AM 14.10.12
Hi, I work for a company who is sponsoring me to stay in the country. But the contract they offered me included company vehicle, mobile phone, work wear - but 6 months into the 2 year sponsorship I am still driving my own car (but which they pay expenses Reggo, fuel ) using my own phone and wearing my own workwear, and slowly losing confidence with the whole issue and have no one to ask regarding the matter. Yet a new employee has been given all these things. Feels as if I'm being exploited and made to pay to gain my residency with people claiming - you have to do your prison sentence of 2 years to get in, which is a nightmare as I'm a skilled trade, which is still on the wanted list with immigration and yet have no rights.

Underpaid, unfair roster hours with no penalities and no contract
Posted by Mai - 11:31 PM 12.10.12
Hi, there's a couple of my friends in the same situation who are full time medical scientist working at the same pathology. They get paid 20 dollars/hr, which is the same payment for a laboratory technician working there. Its a shift work but they always get rostered at 2pm to 10-11pm with no shift penalties and only a half an hour break. What rights do they have, especially that they did not sign an employment contract?
