Possible workplace harrassment
Posted by Dean - 01:55 AM 18.05.13
I work as a bartender. For a while now I feel I have been getting harassed by the Club Secretary and licensee at the club I work at. He is not my boss however, the Board of Directors at the club are, but consider this fact irrelevant for the question I need to find answer too. The most recent incident was this - he had come to the club in a non-official capacity, i.e. was there to drink and mingle with friends at the club. After a few drinks he moved to other side of the club and watched my actions for 20mins, which made me uncomfortable. After he finished his drink 4th or 5th drink (he hadn't had enough to be considered intoxicated and was going home) he came up and chewed me out for not putting more schooner glasses in the fridge straight away to cool (which I didn't need to because I had another full tray in there) and not cleaning used glasses fast enough (which was completely untrue, but anyway), my question is, does he have the right to even bring up anything work related after he has had a few drinks? Wouldn't his judgement be considered impaired due to alcohol consumption? I really need an answer to this because I would like to bring this issue up with the Board of Directors at my club.

no pay
Posted by Lynette - 06:12 PM 17.05.13
My daughter work did not get paid last week, she got a payslip but according to the manager there was a problem at the bank. But she still did not get her pay, this week she only got paid per delivery and not per hour. I feel sorry for her, she have a little baby girl. We try to help where we can with nappies and everything.

no pay for compulsory training?
Posted by Sonia - 08:19 PM 16.05.13
My husband is a disability support worker who attended a compulsory training course in work hours and was told he was not going to be paid for that time. So he lost pay for an 8 hour shift for a 5 hour training session that was mandatory for the job he works in. Is this right?

Workload doubled
Posted by S - 09:46 AM 16.05.13
I have worked at this company for 5 years. 12 people were just made redundant. Ive been told my offsider is being moved to another role and that I now have to do his job as well as my own, with no pay increase and Im still required to meet the same KPIs. Is this legal? When I complained I was told I was lucky to have a job.

Not being paid
Posted by Loredana - 05:05 PM 13.05.13
Hello, my partner has been working for this guy for the past 2 months. Every day he wakes up at 3am to drive to Sydney and start work at 7am till 3.30 -4pm. Now he has not been given any contract and he gets paid into his account, however the past 2 weeks he has not been paid and found out that his boss has been taking his accommodation allowance and hasnt paid any super or taxes on my partner's behalf. My partner has been ringing and asking his boss to why he hasn't been paid and the boss simply replies that he has not been paid either. But yet he asked his work collegues and they answered they have been paid. Additionally my partner works overtime sometimes they have these crazy shifts where he starts work at 2am and doesnt finish until 1pm and he doesnt receive any over time or accommodation allowance. What can he do?

Docked pay
Posted by Katrina - 03:02 AM 12.05.13
I arrived at work a couple of minutes before my shift was due to start and I was docked 15 minutes pay because I was not 10 minutes early and needed to be there in that time to count my register and log on for the day before I started work. It is my understanding that prep work is counted as work and should be paid for.... Is this correct?
