Tasmanian workers are being asked to spread the word about unions and the benefits
of union membership. We are running a special competition which could put you in
the running to win $1000!
All you have to do is get a worker – who is not a member of a union - to join Unions
Australia. It's that simple and the more people you sign up the more chances you
have to win!
We need your help to tell the story of the personal benefits of union membership
as well as the great achievements that have been delivered by the union movement.
Talk to your friends, colleagues, neighbours and family members and let them know
that every single gain won for working people was done through strong and active
membership of unions.
Be sure to tell them that every improvement to our health and safety, our working
conditions and our pay rates — even our superannuation — has been implemented due
to the hard work of strong unions.
Union members know there's strength in numbers. Protect and improve your pay and
conditions at the same time as helping your family and friends find out about unions.

Sign Up Tasmania competition
Entry details
By signing up new union members to Unions Australia - you go into the draw to win
one of five ME Online Savings Account each containing $1000.
There are two ways of entering the competition:
(i) Standard entry: a union member who recruits new members via the Unions Australia
website (join online facility) at www.unionsaustralia.com.au or the official Unions
Australia membership form.
(ii) Workplace entry: Workplace entry: a union member who recruits new members directly
to an affiliated union (not via Unions Australia).
Three prizes have been allocated for standard entries, and two prizes for workplace
entries.
Terms and conditions
- To be eligible for a standard entry you must (i) be a current financial union member
of an affiliated union at the time of the draw (ii) reside in Tasmania (iii) ensure
your name and phone number are included in your referrer's application – either
on the Unions Australia website (join online facility) at
www.unionsaustralia.com.au or the official Unions Australia membership form
To be eligible for a workplace entry you must (i) be a current financial union member
of an affiliated union at the time of the draw (ii) reside in Tasmania (iii) ensure
your name, phone number and the details of the new union members you have recruited
are included on the official Unions Australia 'Sign up Tasmania' form.
- One entry may be submitted on your behalf for each new member recruited. Multiple
entries are permitted however an individual can only win one prize.
- New recruits must be signed up between 29 September and 30 November 2008
- This competition is being administered by ACTU Member Connect on behalf of Unions
Australia. All decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- Competition is not open to employees (or members of their immediate families) of
ACTU, Member Connect, Members Equity Bank or ACTU affiliated unions.
- Unions Australia or Member Connect take no responsibility for entries that are lost
or delayed in transit or transmission or for any other reason.
- Entries close at midnight on 30 November 2008 and winners will be drawn by random
draw on 5 December 2008.
- All winners will be notified by phone, and their names published on the Unions Australia
website.
- By entering the competition the winner agrees to participate in promotional activity
and material as Unions Australia or Member Connect may require.
- The prize will not be transferable to another person.
- Unions Australia reserves the right to amend these rules at any time.
