i recently resigned from my full time job on a horse stud after 9 months of employment. I am wondering whether i am entitled to any accrued annual leave? I also have an injury to my wrist sustained on the job 3 months ago. The business has been paying the bills so far and i have it in writing (email) to charge the specialist appointment to the business. They did not make an actual workcover claim. Where exactly do i stand regarding this after i leave? If i join a union now would they help me with this problem too?

6 weeks ago i started work as a casual at a steel plant.We are working on 2 shifts,day and afternoon and have been told we are not entitled to a paid meal break because we are not working 3 shifts.Therefore we are working 8 and a half hours per day and only getting paid for 8 hours.Could you please confirm if we are entitled to a paid meal break and if we are how i approach this for fear of being laid off.Thankyou.

Hi, a friend of mine has just been told that they were overpaid for the last 5 months. As their site allowance was have meant to be finished and is still currently being paid. My friend was unaware of the overpayment as they have been paid this amount for quite along time. They haven't been told to pay it back, but do they have to legally and what would be the right way to do this as they dont have the money to pay it back?

My workplace agreement for Full time employement lapsed 31st Dec 2009, I've just been given a new roster in which my full time hours will be severely cut back in 1 weeks time, for good and have been told that I won't be guaranteed shifts in 2 months time.... What are my rights?

I am currantly on Maternity but before taking leave I was working full time, 3 days at the office and 2 days at home so I could look after my child. My employer has recently contacted me informing me that when I return back to work I am able to still work 2 days at home but my children need to be in care. Can they change the policy?

I have worked for a well government owned logistics company for almost 8 years. I am the only one on our site who is on an AWA contract (which has recentley expired) while everyone else is on a EBA contract. They have currently been talking about offering redundancies. Will I be entitled to the same payout as those on EBA contracts or will I need to sign over to an EBA contract to receive the same. if I do I will be loosing $80

Lee Rhiannon has put forward questions in NSW parliament to the appropriate ministers for me, relating to OHS and the difference between Workcover NSW and The Department of Primary Industries. I am fighting to get a clearer understanding of the rights of workers and the possible red tape, or possible lack of public awareness, about what truely goes on in the mining industry in NSW. It is possibly a good time for any mine workers that feel where they work is not complying fully with OHS obligations to contact The Department of Primary Industries and Lee Rhiannon. This government organisation The Department of Primary Industries is there to protect us workers. If the inspectors need our support in getting red tape cut and support from government ministers, then let us help. It is not only our own health and safety but also the health and safety of our fellow workers. Plus for our families and love ones we need to come home healthy and safe everyday.

I have been with my current employer for almost 4 years. I was employed as a causal and I have been working 30 hours a week for the last year (26 per week for the 2.5 years before that) Currently there are a number of issues in my work place like explaining of my duties without compensation. I love the place I work for but I get the feeling we are being walked all over by management. My questions are: As a Casual can I still join a union and be protected? I have been told by a number of people that if I was to join a union I may be fired. Also am I still a casual? My employer requires me to work at least 25 hours a week and requires me to submit leave 2 weeks in advance to taking it. I am still on the same contact I signed when I started working there and I have never been asked to sign a new one.

Labor has not delivered the IR reform that workers at Tahmoor Colliery had hoped for. Our legal fight for a fair workplace agreement seems to be thwarted by the current laws. We are trying to retain conditions that we have in our existing agreement. Conditions we currently have promote full time employment, let us have a say on safety without fear of the sack and the right to arbitration should things turn sour. Xstrata wants it all. Our fantastic union has been bargaining for nearly 2 years. We have written to Julia only to be told FWA will save us. It is sad that this can happen while a labor government is in power.
