| 8 hour shifts with no breaks |

Hi I just started a job and am expected to work 8+ hours with no break. There is actually no one else rostered on to allow for breaks. I was not told any of this at the interview and only found out about 6 hours into my first shift. I was also told what my hourly wage would be which included penalties, turns out to be below what I am entitled to and now have also found out that I am actually going to get about a $1 an hour less than I was told. I don't want to quit the job, but am finding it too hard to do 8 hours on my feet with no break.
Is there anything I can do about any of this or is it a matter of just sucking it up?

My employer is claiming I am a casual employee, however does not refelct or pay any loading or overtime payments. I believe that beacuse I have set days and hours worked I am a permanent employee. I must apply for annual leave but do not get paid for this leave or sick days. I have been begged to work extra days / hours for the last 2 years and when the boss finally decides (nearly 12 months after requesting it) he wishes to finalise the arrangements and asks when I will be available to work. I advised I could complete extra hours but would prefer this to be on a casual basis. He advised he would let me know if this is possible. The next I know he tells me he has employed someone to fulfil this role and I wont be needed to do any extra days or hours. His tratment is unfair. I have been locked out of my workplace (in paid capacity) until my support person can be available for a metting. I believe I am being unfairly treated and steps are being taken to force me to resign, I am struggling to cope with the stress this employment is causing me. I only receive A$325 a week and will probably be forced out of the workforce with no inclination to return after this experience. I am left feeling depleted by the treatment I have encountered. I am not a union member just a part time Mum working a few days to assist with meeting family commitments.

Interpretation of a roster cycle. A roster of 5 shifts has been implemented. IA2009 says Average of 40hr week or 80 hour fortnight. IMplemented roster has work a 80hr roster fortnight followed by a rostered 40hr week followed by a 80 hr fortnight. Or as it rotates over 6 weeks 80 - 84 -86. Can they make us work more than 80 hours in a week using this method

I have a boss who snaps at me and then tries to turn my co-workers against me she likes to intimidate everyone and we are nervous all the time about what mood she is in. She tried to get my co-workers to bitch about me and says I am acting different. I am because I hate going to work, am not sleeping and cry at home to my husband. She doesn't handle stress and takes it out on us and likes to put everybody in their place so she feels bigger than us. I work in childcare and it is hard to act happy in front of the children and parents. She puts on a real friendly act to parents etc but changes when it is just the staff around.

last year when i worked full time, i got promoted to a position were my pay was supposed to go up from $13.27 to $14ish. but this never happened. i then got promoted again were my pay was supposed to be around $14ish again, but never happened. they finally put my pay up to the right pay rate only a couple of weeks ago but the next day they put it up, i turned 19 anyway which meant my pay went up to 19.60.
i asked if i would get back payed for the past year ive been payed wrong and they said "no way".
do they have to back pay me?

Work has been very supportive but there are hints of dismissal due to the time i am taking off. Can i put in a work cover claim? or Do i need to wait until i'm dismissed?

i was employed as a 0.9 enrolled nurse on a 3 month contract as PPT, this was then renewed 2 times. i have now had a baby and had 8 weeks off and been told I have to go back as casual as there are no permanent positions for ENs at the hospital. however I have been told from several people that if you are given the same amount of hours on a fortnightly basis for 3 months you are entitled to a permanent position. is this true?
