i was employed as a 0.9 enrolled nurse on a 3 month contract as PPT, this was then renewed 2 times. i have now had a baby and had 8 weeks off and been told I have to go back as casual as there are no permanent positions for ENs at the hospital. however I have been told from several people that if you are given the same amount of hours on a fortnightly basis for 3 months you are entitled to a permanent position. is this true?

I wanted some extra money and requested to do overtime from my contracted 37.5hrs a week full time position. My manager gave me permission and i gave 2 weekd notice for the date i would like to start... I had to wait 3 fortnightly pay periods to get some extra money and still have not been paid for 2 ofthe days or any of the 15% loading im owed... I've been asking each pay for the money im owed and keep getting told 'next pay, be patient' this was 2 months ago. I asked today if i will get any interest/compensation and was laughed at... Also recently i was sick with a non-contageous chest infection and couldn't perform my usual phone duties but was given work i could complete by another manager but my manager sent me home anyway-unpaid 5 days ina row because he didnt want others faking a sickness they "caught" from me,am i eligible to get this money back?
- There’s quite a bit going on here so we really need to ask you few questions to get a clear picture. We’ll phone you today to grab a bit more information.

My employer says I'm not entitled to long service. I have been there over 10 years as permanent casual. I am required to work a minimum 40 hrs a week, I get 2 weeks holiday pay (without loading, I think. I'll have to verify that), no sick pay or public holidays. His reasoning is that the work is seasonal, yet for the first 10 years I've never had time off due to seasonal conditions. I've never had a separation certificate nor had income from any other employer, neither have I ever registered for unemployment benefits. Where do I stand regarding LSL?

This may not be a union issue but it does concern the exploitation of young people. Why is is that various night clubs insist that a young person have an abn number (therefore no-one to advocate for them), some give a chit slip that details gross earnings, and then what the sub-contractor receives (which is half). These clubs take no responsibility for their young subcontractors. In fact hiring sub-contracting is such a rort. It leaves all the responsibility on the young person's shoulders and absolutely no benefits apart from the fact that they get work.

My mum works for a major electronics/appliances chain (NSW), and she has told me on numerous occasions she doesn't get paid any different on weekends or public holidays, just the one flat rate. I also know that she only gets a 30 min break for lunch in the space of an 8 hour shift, and 2 x 30 minute breaks in a 12 hour shift. This seems quite wrong to me, compared to my experience in retail previously. What are the legal rights for legal employees when it comes to weekend and public holiday rates of pay, and lunch breaks?

Can you tell me if the Award Rate for a Warehouse worker, includes the Forklift allowance. When I asked this question today I would told it was included in the standard Award rate, which doesn't seem right?
One of our Organisers will call you today.
